Using the Manual Focus in Combination with the
Auto Focus
The camera automatically searches for a more suitable focusing
point from the current manually focused location.

Press the MF button.
zThe ` icon and the MF indicator will
appear on the LCD monitor.

Turn the main dial to focus.
zWhen the [ (Rec.)] menu’s [MF-Point Zoom] is set to [On], if a
particular AF frame has been manually selected, the portion of the
image in that frame will appear magnified.*
* Except in the and modes, when the digital zoom is activated or
a TV is used as the display.
* Can also be set so that the image displayed is not magnified (p.49).
zThe MF indicator shows approximate figures. Use them as a
shooting guideline only.
zAdjust the focus by turning the main dial until the image appears
focused on the LCD monitor.
z In Tv, Av or M mode, you can switch between the manual focus,
aperture value and shutter speed selection by clicking the main
dial. A green X appears at the left of selectable items.
zPressing the MF button a second time cancels the manual focus
mode.

Focus the camera with the manual focus, then press
the SET button.
zThe camera focuses automatically to a more accurate focusing
point near the current focusing point.
