File and Folder Names
Pictures, movies and voice memos are assigned file names as follows.
(1) Identifier
Not displayed on camera monitor.
DSCN
Original still pictures, movies, still pictures extracted
from movies
SSCN Small copies
RSCN Cropped copies
FSCN
Pictures created with picture editing other than
cropping and small picture, movies created with movie
editing
(2) File number
Assigned automatically in ascending order, starting from “0001” to
“9999.”
• When the file numbers in a folder reach 9999, a new folder is
created and the next file number returns to “0001.”
(3) Extension
Signifies the file type
.JPG JPEG still pictures
.NRW RAW still pictures
.MOV Movies
.WAV
Voice memos
• Identifier and file number are the same as the picture
to which the voice memo is attached.
