Look through the viewfinder and
press the shutter release button
halfway.

will hear a beep when the subject comes
into focus. (When blinking, the subject is
not in focus.)

You can set the camera so that focusing is performed when the =/L
button is pressed. Use this setting when the autofocus by pressing the
shutter release button halfway is not desired.

Select [AF/AE-L Button] in the [A Rec. Mode 4] menu and
press the four-way controller (5).
The [AF/AE-L Button] screen appears.
