Setting Up Your Scanner
5. Make sure the carriage moves slightly and the fluorescent lamp on the carriage
comes on. When the indicator light stays green, the scanner has completed its
initialization.
If the scanner does not work as described, make sure the power cord is firmly plugged
in, and then try again.
The scanner lamp comes on when it is plugged in, but goes into sleep
mode when it has not been used for 15 minutes. The lamp comes back on
when you scan.
Unplug the scanner when you have finished using it.
If you need to plug the scanner back in after unplugging it, wait at least 10
seconds before plugging it back in. Rapidly plugging in and unplugging the
scanner can damage it.
Always lock the scanner carriage with the transportation lock before
moving it; otherwise, the scanner may be damaged. Make sure the
scanner lamp is in the home position (toward the back of the scanner)
before locking the carriage. See “Transporting the Scanner” on page 42.
