Press e (p) to select Macro mode.
The Macro mode setting changes each time you press the
e (p).
CAUTION
Use only widest-angle for
Super Macro mode.

When Super Macro is set,
flash cannot be used.

Focal range
Wide-angle: Approx. 10 cm to 3.0 m (3.9 in. to 9.8 ft.)
Telephoto: Approx. 90 cm to 3.0 m (3.0 ft. to 9.8 ft.)
Focal range in Super macro
Approx. 1 cm to 1.0 m (0.4 in. to 3.3 ft.)
Focal length: fixed to approx. 28 mm (35 mm camera
equivalent)
Effective flash range (without lens hood)
Wide-angle: Approx. 30 cm to 80 cm (11.8 in. to 2.7 ft.)
Telephoto: Approx. 90 cm to 1.3 m (3.0 ft. to 4.3 ft.)
When taking a picture using the flash for a wide angle
shot, the camera lens might cast a shadow in the frame.
In such case, increase the distance from the subject a
little and zoom in.
MEMO
Use a tripod to prevent camera shake in Macro mode.
Any of the following cancels Macro mode:
- Changing the Mode dial to , or r mode
- Turning the camera off
If the flash is too bright, use flash brightness adjustment
(P.94).
Even if [ MULTI] (p.97) in the [H AF MODE] is set,
the camera focuses near the center of the screen.
AF-assist may not function correctly if the camera is up
close to the subject, such as in Macro mode.
Use this mode to take close-up shots.
