Trouble Shooting
Symptom
The camera does not power
on.
Cannot format the card.
The camera turns power off
suddenly.
The startup screen stays on
and the status indicator
blinks green.
Possible causes
The AA batteries are depleted.
You did not press the Power button
long enough.
You did not insert the AA batteries cor-
rectly.
The write protect switch is set to lock
position.
The card is broken.
The AA batteries are depleted.
The power automatically turns off when
there is no operation for a certain pe-
riod of time.
The Mode Dial is set halfway between
two modes.
Symptom
The Shutter button does not
function to capture.
The LCD screen does not
display the image from the
lens.
The captured image is too
dark or too bright in , mode.
The flash does not function.
Cannot focus on a close up
subject.
The captured image appears
unclear.
Cannot use the digital zoom.
Possible causes
You did not press the Shutter button
enough.
The LCD screen turns off.
The exposure setting does not match
the lighting condition.
You set the flash to off mode.
You set the flash to Auto mode in a
bright condition.
The flash has malfunctioned.
The camera cannot automatically focus
on a subject closer than 1 ft (30 cm).
The focus is not properly locked.
The DIGITAL ZOOM menu item is set to
“OFF”.
Suggested solution
Replace them with new ones (p. 7).
Press and hold down the Power button
for approximately 1 second.
Make sure the battery polarity matches
the indicators on the bottom of the
camera body (p. 7).
Set the write protect switch to unlocked
