3 Press the shutter release button
halfway.
The autofocus locks on the subject and the
metering screen appears.
If the subject is too bright or too dark to
meter, the EV indicator at the top of the
screen blinks.
4 Press the shutter release button
fully.
The exposure value (EV) metered in Step 3
above is stored.
The shutter speed and aperture
combination appears. Use the four-way
controller (45) to move the combination of
values. This combination of values can be displayed in various ways,
for example to obtain the aperture that corresponds to the desired
shutter speed or to obtain the shutter speed that corresponds to the
desired aperture.
5 Press the 4 button.
The screen display during Digital Exposure
Metering mode changes to a scale
displaying the metered exposure value.
This display is called the EV scale.
The digital zoom cannot be used in the Digital Exposure Metering
mode. The zoom can only be adjusted within the range of the optical
zoom (from ×1 to ×5).
EV is short for “exposure value” and is the value that indicates the
exposure brightness (brightness of the subject). EV=0 when the
aperture (f-number) is 1.0 and the shutter speed is 1/1.
