Taking Pictures
b
In this mode, you can set the shutter speed manually. The camera
automatically sets the aperture to obtain the optimal exposure at the
shutter speed you have chosen. Use this mode when you want to
emphasize movement by setting a slow shutter speed to take a moving
subject, or when you want to set a fast shutter speed in dim light to
prevent camera shake.
1 Set the mode dial to b.
2 Use the four-way controller (45)
to change the shutter speed.
Pressing 5 reduces the speed and
pressing 4 increases the speed.
3 Press the shutter release button
halfway.
The camera adjusts the aperture accordingly.
If the appropriate exposure cannot be obtained, the aperture displayed
on the LCD monitor turns red.
The focus frame turns green if the subject is in focus.
4 Press the shutter release button fully.
The picture is taken.
Shutter Priority Shooting
Total recording time will be longer when the picture is taken at a
slower shutter speed, because the noise reduction function
activates to reduce picture noise.
•In b mode, the shutter speed can be set up to approx. 1/1000
seconds. (In Auto, it can be set up to approx. 1/2000 seconds.)
The set shutter speed is displayed as the default when the camera
is turned on the next time in the b mode or a mode.
