System Upgrade
This section provides information about the following:
• Setting the software license to allow the NVR300 to support additional PelcoNet devices
• Adding internal storage:
– Adding storage in a non-RAID system (applicable to NVR3xx-250 systems only: NVR316J-250 and NVR332J-250
– Adding storage in a RAID system (maximum of 1,500 GB internal storage)
• Adding external storage with up to two DX9200HDDI video storage units (maximum of 7,000 GB external storage)
SETTING THE SOFTWARE LICENSE
NOTE: Service-level access privileges are required to set the software license.
The NVR300 must have a valid license to run the operating software. The NVR300 is shipped with a preconfigured license that corresponds to
your order. You can, however, upgrade your license to support additional PelcoNet devices by purchasing a new license from Pelco. You can also
reset a license to repair any license-related issues that may occur.
To set the software license, do the following:
1. Open the NVR-Config page by clicking the NVR-Config link or clicking the desktop icon.
The NVR-Config page appears. Figure 43 shows the “License settings” dialog box on the NVR-Config page. The “License settings” dialog
box allows you to set the software license.
NOTE: Figure 43 shows a license setup for a demonstration version of the software—your screen will differ depending on the number of
devices supported by your NVR300 system.

Note the following fields in the “License settings” dialog box:
• License type: Displays the current configuration of the NVR300.
• Licensed inputs: Displays the number of devices for which the NVR300 is currently licensed:
– If the NVR300 is licensed for 16 devices, the number of licensed inputs is 16.
– If the NVR300 is licensed for 32 devices, the number of licensed inputs is 32.
– If the NVR300 is licensed for 64 devices (up to 40 Mbps), the number of licensed inputs is 64.
– If the NVR300 license has not been activated, Demo is displayed.
• Currently used inputs: Displays the number of devices currently being used.
• Installation-Code: Identifies the specific NVR300 unit. The code that appears is automatically generated by the specific NVR300
unit.
2. In the Activation Code field, enter the copyright code:
• If you are upgrading the license, enter the new copyright code supplied with the new license.
• If you are resetting the license, enter the copyright code that is labeled on the NVR300 unit.
3. Click the Set button to set the copyright code.
