4. In the Activation Code field, delete the copyright code and then enter the activation code:
• If you are upgrading the license, enter the new activation code supplied with the new license.
• If you are resetting the license, enter the activation code that is labeled on the NVR300 unit.
5. Click the Set button to set the activation code.
The “License settings” dialog box displays the correct license configuration.
ADDING INTERNAL STORAGE IN A NON-RAID SYSTEM (NVR3XXJ-250 SYSTEMS ONLY)
NOTE: The data storage volume of the NVR300 is preconfigured as Volume D (D:\).
The NVR300 is field upgradeable. If additional storage is required in an NVR3xxJ-250 system (NVR316J-250 and NVR332J-250), data storage
hard disk drive(s) (250 GB) can be added to the hard disk drive bay to expand the storage to 1500 GB.
Adding a storage drive in an NVR3xxJ-250 system involves the following steps:
1. Adding the storage drive to the hard disk drive bay of the NVR300
2. Using the Windows XP Disk Management tool to format the newly added storage drive
3. Using the Windows XP Disk Management tool to extend the data storage volume (Volume D) of the NVR300 among multiple disks
To perform each of the above steps, refer to the sections that follow.
Step 1. Add storage drive to hard disk drive bay.
To add a storage drive in an NVR3xxJ-250 system, do the following:
1. Power off the NVR300 by doing the following:
a. On the Windows XP taskbar, click the Start button, and then click Turn Off Computer.
The “Turn off computer” dialog box appears.
b. Click the Turn Off button.
The NVR300 powers off.
2. Unlock the NVR300 front door using a supplied key.
3. Remove the carrier containing the new storage drive from the antistatic wrapping.
4. Insert the carrier containing the new storage drive into slot 1-6 of the hard disk drive bay.
NOTE: When inserting the carrier, ensure that the carrier is securely seated in the slot and that the lock latch on the top of the carrier locks into
the hard disk drive bay. (The carrier should not be able to be removed from the slot without pressing the lock latch.)
5. Power on the NVR300 by pressing the POWER button on the front panel of the unit.
The NVR300 boots. During the boot process, the NVR300 splash screen appears, followed by the recovery boot option screen and the
Windows XP boot screens. The Windows XP log-in screen then appears.
6. Lock the NVR300 front door.
Proceed to Step 2 that follows.
WARNING: Handle the hard disk drive with care. Improper handling can easily damage the drive. In addition, prevent electrostatic
discharge (ESD) damage to the hard disk drive by following ESD precautions. Always wear a grounding wrist strap that is connected to an
approved grounding source when installing the hard disk drive.
