8. Power on the NVR300 by pressing the POWER button on the front panel of the unit.
The NVR300 boots. During the boot process, the NVR300 splash screen appears, followed by the recovery boot option screen and the
Windows XP boot screens. The Windows XP log-in screen then appears.
9. Lock the NVR300 front door.
Proceed to Step 2 that follows.
Step 2. Use Windows XP Disk Management to format the replacement storage drive.
Using Windows XP Disk Management, format the replacement storage drive as follows:
1. Log in to Windows XP as Administrator. The default password is 2921981@$.
The Windows XP desktop appears.
2. Open Windows XP Disk Management as follows:
a. On the Windows XP desktop, right-click the My Computer icon and then click Manage.
The Computer Management window appears.
b. In the left pane of the Computer Management window, locate the Storage item.
c. Under the Storage item, click Disk Management.
3. Format the new drive as follows:
a. Right-click the new drive and then click New Partition.
The New Partition Wizard dialog box appears.
b. Click the Next button.
c. Click Primary or Extended.
d. Specify the drive size (which should be all available space).
Windows assigns a drive letter to the new drive.
e. Click the Next button.
f. Format the partition using NTFS and select the Perform a Quick Format check box.
g. Click the Finish button.
The new drive is formatted. Proceed to Step 3 that follows.
Step 3. Use Windows XP Disk Management to extend data storage volume among multiple disks.
Using Windows XP Disk Management, extend the data storage volume (Volume D) of the NVR300 among multiple disks as follows:
1. Convert the new drive from a basic disk to a dynamic disk as follows:
a. Right-click the new drive and then click Convert to Dynamic Disk….
The Convert to Dynamic Disk dialog box appears. In the Disks box, the new drive is selected.
b. Click the OK button.
The new drive is converted to a dynamic disk. The disk is labeled Dynamic.
2. Log in to Windows XP as Administrator. The default password is 2921981@$.
The Windows XP desktop appears.
