You can set the range of the autofocusing area (AF area).

Select G in Step 3 on p.104, and press the 4 button.
The camera returns to the control panel.

Press the 3 button or the shutter release button halfway.
The camera is ready to take a picture.

Press the U/i button.
The Live View image is displayed on the monitor.

Press the 4 button.
The range of the selectable area is displayed with broken lines and a
white rectangle appears on it. You can set the AF area by changing the
position and size of this rectangle.

Select the AF area.
Available operations

Press the 4 button.
The AF area is set.
Selecting the Desired Focusing Area
Four-way controller

Changes the position of the AF area.
Rear e-dial (S) Changes the size of the AF area.
d button Returns the AF area to the center.
The set AF area is saved in the memory even if the Contrast AF setting is
changed or the camera is turned off.
