Troubleshooting and Support
The camera
does not
turn on
(continued).
The memory
card is not a
supported card
or is corrupt.
Ensure that the memory card is
the proper type (see page 185). If
so, remove the memory card and
turn on the camera; if the camera
turns on, the card is probably
corrupted. Format the memory
card using your computer (see
page 127). If the camera still
does not turn on, replace the
memory card.
The battery
gauge goes
up and down
frequently.
Different
operating
modes of the
camera require
different power
levels.
See Power Indicators on
page 170.
I have to
recharge the
Lithium Ion
battery
frequently.
Extended use
of Live View or
video
recording, and
excessive use
of flash and/or
zoom consume
a lot of battery
power.
See Extending Battery Life on
page 168.
The Lithium Ion
battery was
recharged
incorrectly.
A battery that is new or has not
been charged recently must be
recharged to reach full capacity
(see
page 167).
The battery has
drained on its
own.
If you have not used the battery
for two months or longer,
recharge it (see page 167).
