Creating Projects
Now that you have a few basics down, you’re ready to start recording. First, you’ll
need to create a new Project. Typically a Project is a song, radio spot, or sound
effects stem for a 10-minute film reel, but it could also be a live concert or an
entire symphony.
To create a new Project from the front panel:
1. Press Disk Util. The Disk Utility
Menu displays the Active Drive,
which is the drive on which new
Projects will be created.
2. If you want to create a new
Project on a different drive, select Set. In the Set Active Drive menu, use
either the (–) Dec / (+) Inc or << / >> buttons to select either Internal or
External. Select OK to confirm, then press Disk Util to exit. Otherwise,
just press Disk Util to exit.
3. Press Project, then select New.
The HDR24/96 asks if you want
to save the currently open
Project. Press No to discard
changes you may have made to
the demo Project to keep it intact
for use with the tutorial in the Applications Manual.
4. The name “Project#1” appears on
the left side of the LCD screen. A
pointer (“v”) appears above the
first character of the name to
indicate that you can change that
character. Press the (–) Dec / (+)
Inc buttons to select the character
you want in that position. Select the >> button to move the pointer to the
next character.
5. When you’ve completed the Project name, select New to create the Project
and exit.
The HDR24/96 will not allow you to type the following characters into the
Project, Track, Take, and Playlist names: / \ : * ? “ < > | . They are reserved
for use by the system.
