Using Hot Backup Triggers
Hot Backup is initiated by the slave MCU on detection of no response from the master MCU on a “Keep
Alive” operation. The Hot Backup triggers initiates the Hot Backup swap from Master to Slave when the
selected conditions on the Master MCU occur.
Guidelines for Configuring the Hot Backup Triggers
Hot Backup triggers should be configured on both the Master and Slave MCUs.
Hot Backup triggers are not synchronized between the Master and Slave MCUs.

Field Description
Hot Backup Enabled Select this check box to enable Hot Backup.
MCU Role: This setting determines the role of the MCU in the Hot Backup configuration.
Select either Master MCU or Slave MCU from the drop-down menu.
Paired MCU IP Address Enter the Control Unit IP Address of the:
Slave MCU (if this MCU is the Master)
Master MCU (if this MCU is the Slave)
Synchronization Status The status of the synchronization between the Master and Slave MCUs in the
Hot Backup configuration is indicated as:
•OK - Hot Backup is functioning normally, and the Master and Slave MCUs are
synchronized.
Attempting - Hot Backup is attempting to synchronize the Master and Slave
MCUs.
•Fail - A failure occurred while trying to synchronize the paired MCUs.
•None - Hot Backup has not been enabled.
