Using Other Flashes
1. Turn on the flash’s power switch and
set the camera’s mode dial to program.
The flash cannot be fired in auto mode.
2. Set the aperture-priority AE mode (p.
56).
The flash will fire at full strength under the
following conditions.
Shutter Speed: 1/90 second fixed
ISO Sensitivity: 100 equivalent (large image size)
200 equivalent (small image size)
Exposure Compensation: Incapable of firing
Select the optimal aperture setting
according to the flash guide number and
the distance from the subject.
The flash will not fire if the aperture is
set to auto. You must specify an
aperture value.
3. Press the shutter button halfway.
The camera’s indicator will flash green
when it is ready to shoot. Check the flash’s
indicator to verify that it is fully charged
and ready.
4. Press the shutter button all the way
and take the shot.
Flashes made by manufacturers other than
Canon may not fire.
