Edge emphasis and smoothing are carried out.
Edge Emphasis (Text Image)
The outlines of characters and fine lines are made
sharper as they appear on the copy by correcting the
MTF (modulation transfer function) characteristics
(resolution).
*MTF: Modulation Transfer Function
Smoothing (Photo Image)
Image noise contained in the solid area of the image
is reduced to smooth the image, thereby improving
image quality of photos.
