4 Turn the Jog dial to set the desired time and turn
the Shuttle dial clockwise to register the setting.
5 To exit the menu, press the EXIT/OSD button.
Still-Picture Playback
During playback, press the X PAUSE button.
The indicator of the X PAUSE button lights, and the
playback picture freezes.
Press the X PAUSE button again to restore normal
playback.
To switch between frame still and field still
When an image recorded in Frame Recording mode is
displayed in Still-Picture mode, pressing the SEARCH
FRAME/FIELD button alternately switches between
frame still and field still.
To advance or reverse the still picture frame
by frame
Using the Jog dial, frame-by-frame playback can be
done in both the forward and reverse directions.
Turning the Jog dial clockwise advances the pictures
frame by frame, and turning it counterclockwise
reverses the pictures frame by frame.
Variable-Speed Playback
The Jog and Shuttle dials enable playback at various
speeds.
With the Jog dial
Using the Jog dial, you may change the playback
speed (playback rate specified in frames per second) in
17 steps.
Set the unit in Playback mode and turn the Jog dial.
If you rotate it clockwise by one notch, the playback
speed increases by one step. One notch
counterclockwise rotation decreases the playback
speed by one step. Press the B PLAY button to
restore normal playback speed.
With the Shuttle dial
Using the Shuttle dial, you may play the pictures at a
high speed or in slow motion.
Set the unit to Playback mode (PLAY button indicator
lit) or Still-Picture mode (PAUSE button indicator
lit) and rotate the Shuttle dial.
Playback will be performed in the direction and speed
indicated by the direction and orientation of the Shuttle
dial.
When you release the dial, the previous mode is
restored.

To hold the variable-speed playback
The SHUTTLE HOLD button enables you to lock the
direction and speed obtained with the Shuttle dial.
Turn the Shuttle dial in the desired direction and hold
it at the angle for the desired speed, then press the
SHUTTLE HOLD button so that the indicator of the
SHUTTLE HOLD button lights.
Playback of the direction and speed set by the Shuttle
dial are maintained even after you release the Shuttle
dial.
To restore the previous mode, press the SHUTTLE
HOLD button again.
