5.2 Switching the server on and off
V CAUTION!
It nothing appears on the screen but flickering stripes after switching on
the server, switch the server off immediately (see chapter “Trouble-
shooting and tips” on page 75).
The On/Off button does not disconnect the server from the mains. To
completely disconnect it from the mains voltage, remove the power plugs
from the sockets.
Switching the server on
The power-on indicator at the front does not light up (item 6 in figure 13 on
page 55). The power indicator on the power supply units lights up if the server
is connected to the mains (item 3 in figure 21 on page 66).
– Starting up for the first time:
Ê Press the On/Off button (item 9 in figure 13 on page 55).
Power-on indicator lights up green.
Ê Insert ServerStart disc 1 in the DVD drive.
Ê Follow the on-screen instructions (see also section “Configuration with
ServerStart” on page 70 or section “Configuration without ServerStart”
on page 71).
– System already installed:
Ê Press the On/Off button (item 9 in figure 13 on page 55).
Power-on indicator lights up green.
The server is switched on, performs a system test and boots the
operating system.
