[SUB-T DATE] cannot be set for SD (standard
denition) image quality.
FLASH MODE
You can select the ash setting when you
record still images with the built-in ash
or an external ash (optional) that is
compatible with your camcorder.
AUTO
Automatically ashes when there is
insucient ambient light.
ON ( )
Always uses the ash regardless of the
surrounding brightness.
OFF ( )
Records without ash.
Notes
e recommended distance to the subject when
using the built-in ash is approximately 0.3 to
2.5 m (1 to 8 feet).
Remove any dust from the surface of the ash
before using it. Flash eect may be impaired if
heat discoloration or dust obscures the lamp.
e /CHG (charge) lamp (p. 15) ickers while
charging the ash, and remains lit when the
battery charge is complete.
If you use the ash in bright places such as
when shooting a backlit subject, the ash may
not be eective.

HIGH (

Makes the ash level higher.
NORMAL ( )
LOW (
)
Makes the ash level lower.
REDEYE REDUC
You can set this function when you record
still images using the built-in ash or an
external ash (optional) that is compatible
with your camcorder.
When you set [REDEYE REDUC] to [ON],
then set [FLASH MODE] to [AUTO] or
[ON], appears. You can prevent redeye
by activating the pre-ash before the ash
ashes.
Notes
e redeye reduction may not produce the
desired eect due to individual dierences and
other conditions.
Pre-ash does not ash when SMILE
SHUTTER records still images automatically.
DIAL SETTING
You can select an item you want to set to
the CAMERA CONTROL dial. For details,
see page 30.
CONVERSION LENS
When using a conversion lens (optional),
use this function to record using the
optimum compensation for camera shake
for each lens.
You can select [WIDE CONVERSION]( )
or [TELE CONVERSION]( ). (e default
setting is [OFF].)
