X4-C Redundant Power Supplies
TheMatrixX4‐Cchassissupportsuptothreepowersuppliesthatinstallonthebottomofthe
chassis,inslotslabeledPS1throughPS3.Whilethechassiscanoperatewithfewerthanthree
powersuppliesinstalleddependinguponthenumberofinstalledIOMs,FMs,andCMs,
additionalpowersuppliesprovide
redundancyandloadsharing.
Eachpowersupply(X‐AC)requiresadedicated100‐240Vac,20Ampearth‐groundedcircuit.
Powercordsshippedwiththisunitarecountry‐dependent.Eachpowercordmustbeplugged
intoanindependentpowercircuit.
Eachpowersupplyhasitsowncoolingfans.
Thepowersuppliesare
capableofloadsharing(+/‐5%)theMatrixX4‐Cchassispowerload.Ifone
powersupplyfails,theotherpowersuppliessupportaminimallyloadedchassis(1IOM,1FM,

Asanoption,youcanpurchasetwistlockpowercordswhichsecurelyattachtherearpowerinlets

Power Supply LEDs
EachpowersupplycomesequippedwithtwoLEDsforat‐a‐glancediagnosticsthatindicate
individualACandDCpowersupplystatus.Referto“PowerSupplyLEDs”onpage 3‐38,for
moreinformation.
Auto-Ranging Power Supplies
TheMatrixX4‐Cchassispowersuppliesautomaticallyadjusttotheinputvoltageandfrequency,
whichallowsforaninputvoltageof100to240 Vac,andafrequencybetween50and60 Hz.See
theoperatingspecificationsinApp endix A,SpecificationsandRegula toryCompliance.No
additionaladjustmentsarenecessary.Forinstallationsin

Power Supply Replacement
Tolimitnetworkdowntime,apowersupplymayberemovedafterithasbeenpowereddown
withoutpoweringdownthechassis.Whenmorethanonepowersupplyisinstalled,thisallows
youtoremoveonepowersupplywithoutinterruptingnetworktraffic.
X4-C Cooling System
TheX4‐Cfeaturestwo(X‐FAN)removablefantraysaccessiblefromthefrontoftheunit.These
four‐fanunitsarehotswappable,sotheycanbereplacedwithoutpoweringdownthechassis.
EachfantrayhasoneLEDlocatedonthefrontoftheunit,indicatingitsstatus(normal/fault/off).

OntheX4‐C,thefanspushcoolingairthroughthechassisandmodules,fromrighttoleft,
exhaustingouttheothersideofthechassis.
