Attaching the Electrostatic Discharge Wrist Strap
TheElectrostaticDischarge(ESD)wriststrapmustbeattachedbeforehandlingthepower
supplies,fantray,andmodulesusedintheMatrixX4‐Cchassis.
PlacetheESDwriststraponyourwristandplugtheotherendintothegroundingreceptacle,
showninFigure 3‐9,nearthebottomofthe
chassis.

MatrixXACpowersuppliesaresupportedinallMatrixXchassismodelsandprovidetwopower
outputlevelsrelativetotheinputpowersource.Thepowersuppliessupporteither110Vac20A
or220Vac10Aservice,providing1160or1500Wattsperpowersupply,dependinguponthe
electricalinfrastructure
ofthesitewheretheMatrixXchassiswillbelocated.
Becausesystemcomponentsconsumevaryingamountsofelectricalpower,werecommend
consultingthemodulepowerspecificationsin“PowerSupply Requirements,Specifications,and
TwistLockOptions”onpage A‐2toguideyouininstallingthepropernumberofpowersupplies
foryourconfiguration.
AsyouaddmodulestotheMatrixX4‐Cchassis,youmay berequiredtoinstallmorepower
supplies.Additionalpowersuppliescanbeinstalledtoprovideredundancy.Thiswouldrequire
incrementalpowerbeaddedtothebasepowerrequirementsofthechassisanditscomponents,
dependingon
thepowerredundancyyouwanttosupport.
Whenatleasttwopowersuppliesareinstalled,thepowerfromeachisevenlydistributed.Ifone
powersupplyfails,thesecondpowersupplyassumestheload.Additionalmodulessharethe
loadasrequired.
BeawarethatwhenyoureceiveyourMatrixX4‐C
chassis,acoverplatewillbeinplaceoverall
powersupplyslotsexceptPS1ontheleft.Thisslotisleftopenforyourconveniencewhen
installingthefirstpowersupply.
