Flash Modes
1 Press the { button in A mode.
The Fn guide appears.
2 Press the four-way controller (4).
The flash mode changes each time the
button is pressed.
The camera is ready to take pictures in the
selected flash mode.

Auto
The flash discharges automatically depending on the light
conditions.

Flash Off
The flash will not discharge, regardless of the brightness. Use this
mode to take pictures where flash photography is prohibited.

Flash On The flash discharges regardless of the brightness.

Auto +
Red-eye
reduction
This mode reduces the phenomenon of red eyes caused by the
light from the flash being reflected in the subject’s eyes. The flash
discharges automatically.

This mode reduces the phenomenon of red eyes caused by the
light from the flash being reflected in the subject’s eyes. The flash
will discharge regardless of the light conditions.
When the Zoom Position is toward /, taking pictures with the flash
may cause an edge of the picture to appear dark. Check the picture
using playback.
• The flash will not discharge (Flash Off) in C mode or ^ mode, or
when the drive mode is set to j, a or _, or when the focus
mode is set to s or r.
• A pre-flash discharges when using the red-eye reduction function.
