You can choose which part of the screen to use to measure the
brightness and determine the exposure. The default setting is L (multi-
segment).
AE Metering
1 Press the 3 button in A mode or C mode.
The [A Rec. Mode] menu appears.

Use the four-way controller (

) to select [AE Metering].
3 Press the four-way controller (5).
A pull-down menu appears.
4 Use the four-way controller (23)
to change the AE Metering mode.
5 Press the shutter release button
halfway.
The AE Metering setting is saved and the
camera returns to capture status.
Refer to Step 6 of “How to Use the Menus” (p.45) for other operations
after the setting has been made.
Setting the Light Metering Range to Determine
the Exposure (AE Metering)

Multi-segment The exposure is determined by the entire screen.
M
Center-weighted
The exposure is determined mainly by the center of the
screen.
N
Spot
The exposure is determined by the small area in the
center of the screen only.
