Network Authentication Issues Possible Solution
Finding the SMTP server address
Use the following procedures to find the SMTP server address:
Examine the settings of the mail client in use on your workstation to
find the IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name for the SMTP
server, or
examine email sent from an internal mail client and display the full
email header, or
ask the administrator of the mail server for this information.
Verifying an SMTP server address Send mail to the SMTP server using a mail client application from a PC
attached to the same network as the Scan Station.
If the mail was successfully sent and received, the SMTP server
address is valid.
If you are unable to send an email to the SMTP server, review any error
messages you receive. It is possible the SMTP server address is valid,
but the authentication credentials are not valid.
FTP authentication Scanning to FTP sites may require the configuration of two sets of
credentials: proxy credentials and FTP server credentials.
If your network environment requires the use of a proxy server to access
external FTP sites, you need to configure appropriate proxy credentials
that include username, password and authentication method. Proxy
authentication methods include: User after log on and None. You may
also need to configure a username and password to access the FTP
server. The Scan Station also supports anonymous FTP.
Corrupted configuration file
If your Scan Station’s configuration file becomes corrupt, you may
experience the following:
A blank screen is displayed instead of the destinations and groups that
you previously setup.
A USB flash drive with a new administrative configuration file is
inserted into the Scan Station and the new settings are not recognized.
A USB flash drive with an administrative configuration file is inserted
into the Scan Station and the Settings mode icons are not all properly
displayed.
If you experience any of these issues, it is likely that your configuration
file on the Scan Station is corrupt. If you are running version 1.6.x.x or
greater, the corrupt configuration file will automatically be replaced with a
blank configuration file that contains only default settings. In this case,
you will have to reconfigure the Scan Station with a backup copy of a
configuration file.
If you are running version 1.5.x.x, call Kodak Support.
