USING THE VARIOUS SHOOTING FUNCTIONS
Using the flash
The flash is used not only for taking pictures where there is insufficient light, but also when the
subject is in shade or in backlight conditions. Your camera has four modes of operation (automatic
flash mode, forced flash mode, flash off mode, and red-eye reduction mode).
The flash can be used only in the still image shooting mode. The effective flash range is:
Normal focus: 0.5 to 3.9 meters (widest lens setting) and 0.5 to 2.3 meters (telephoto lens
setting)
Macro focus: 0.15 to 0.5 meters (wide lens setting) and 0.25 to 0.5 meters (telephoto lens
setting)

this setting when capturing an image in a location
where flashes are forbidden, or when shooting a night
landscape scene.
