Long Time Exposure

Rotate the Main-Command Dial to select
buLb and rotate the Sub-Command Dial to
set the aperture.
If buLb is selected in Manual exposure mode
and the exposure mode is changed to Shutter-
Priority Auto, buLb blinks and the shutter
locks.
Continuous exposure of approx. 5 hours is
possible with 3V lithium batteries. Note that
when shooting at low temperatures,
continuous exposure time is reduced.
This function is useful for shooting nighttime scenes such as stars,
which require an extended exposure of more than 30 sec. The shutter
remains open as long as the shutter release button is kept fully
depressed. (Use of a tripod is recommended.)

While pressing the exposure mode button
MODE, rotate the Main-Command Dial to
select ¢ (Manual exposure).
Use the LCD illuminator (x 81) to view the
LCD panel in the dark.

Compose picture, focus and shoot.
The shutter remains open as long as the shutter release button is kept fully
depressed.
Use of the optional remote cord MC-20 or MC-30 (x 171) reduces camera
shake.
Power source
Use of a fresh set of batteries is recommended to avoid power shortage during long
time exposure. Also, optional Multi Power Battery Pack MB-40 (x 166) enables
prolonged long time exposure.
CSM b5: In Manual exposure mode, the slowest shutter speed can be changed
from 30 sec. to 30 min. (x 98).
