In Creative Zone modes, you can select the AF (autofocus) operation to suit
the shooting condition or subject. With <A> and in Basic Zone modes, the
optimum AF operation is set for the respective shooting mode.

Set the focus mode to [AF].
See page 108 to set the focus mode to
[AF].

Display the Quick Control screen.
Press the <Q> button to display it.

Tap the AF operation.

Tap the desired setting to select it.
Tap the desired setting to select it, then
tap [2].

Focus the subject.
Aim the AF point over the subject and
press the shutter button halfway. The
camera will then autofocus with the
selected AF operation.

If focus cannot be achieved, the AF point will turn orange. If this occurs, the
picture cannot be taken even if the shutter button is pressed completely.
Recompose the picture and try to focus again. Or see “Shooting Conditions that
