C.Fn III: Autofocus
C.Fn-4 AF-assist beam (LED) firing
You can enable or disable the AF-assist beam.
0: Enable
When necessary, the self-timer/AF-assist lamp will emit the AF-assist
beam. This setting is applicable also for LED-compatible external flashes.
1: Disable
The AF-assist beam is not emitted.
C.Fn IV: Operation/Others
C.Fn-5 Shutter/AE lock button
0: AF/AE lock
1: AE lock/AF
This is convenient when you want to focus and meter separately. Press
the <A> button to autofocus, and press the shutter button halfway to
apply AE lock.
2: AF/AF lock, no AE lock
In the Servo AF operation, you can press the <A> button to pause the
AF operation momentarily. This prevents the AF from being thrown off by
any obstacle passing between the camera and subject. The exposure is
set at the moment the picture is taken.
3: AE/AF, no AE lock
This is useful for subjects which keep moving and stopping repeatedly.
With Servo AF, pressing the <A> button starts or stops the Servo AF.
The exposure is set at the moment the picture is taken. Thus, the
optimum focusing and exposure will always be achieved as you wait for
the decisive moment.
During continuous shooting, even if you press the <A> button, the AF
operation will not start or stop.
During continuous shooting without autofocus, using the [1: AE lock/AF] or
[3: AE/AF, no AE lock] setting, the maximum number of frames per second
depends on the AF operation settings and the lens used (p.125).
