3 Custom Function Settingst
C.Fn-6 XL button function
You can assign a frequently-used function to the <XL> button. While the camera
is ready to shoot, press <XL>.
0: Normal (set center AF point)
1: Depth-of-field preview
The aperture opening (diaphragm) changes only at the moment when the
picture is taken. Otherwise, the aperture remains fully open. Therefore,
when you look at the scene on the LCD monitor, the depth of field will look
narrow (shallow).
Press the <XL> button to stop down the lens to the current aperture
setting and check the depth of field (range of acceptable focus).
2: ISO speed
The ISO speed setting screen will appear. Press the <Y> <Z> keys or
turn the <5> dial to set the ISO speed.
3: Flash exposure compensation
Set flash exposure compensation if the flash exposure of the subject does
not come out as desired. You can set the exposure compensation up to
±2 stops in 1/3-stop increments.
4: Increase LCD brightness (temporarily)
Pressing the <XL> button will set the LCD monitor brightness to the
same level as the menu’s [7] setting. Press the button again and it will
return to the previous brightness.
If the power turns <2> or the brightness adjustment screen is
displayed with the menu, the previous brightness will return.
C.Fn-7 Release shutter without lens
0: Disable
When set to [Disable], not only the shutter button is disabled but the <o>
(Movie start/stop) button will be disabled as well. Even if you press the
button, movie recording will not start.
1: Enable
Even when no lens is attached to the camera, pressing the shutter button
completely will release the shutter.
Even if [1: Depth-of-field preview] is set, the modeling flash of an external
flash will not fire.
In movie shooting modes, if [1: Depth-of-field preview] or [3: Flash
exposure comp.] is set, the button operations will be disabled. In movie auto
exposure, if [2: ISO speed] is set, the button operations will be disabled.
