Digital Still Camera Mode : Advanced Techniques

+ In a (CAMERA) mode, the automaticfocus will notengage unless the PHOTObutton is
pressedhalfway down.
+ To get good image quality, pleaseverify the proper focus beforefully pressing the PHOTO
button.
+ While the camera is focusing (when pressing the PHOTObutton halfwaydown), a flashing
red icon (O)will appear on the LCD screen.Once the focus is set properly,a green icon (O)
will appear.
÷ A beep sound will be heardonce the focus isset.
1. Frame your subject insidetheAF focus area on the LCD screen in order to obtain clear
focus.
2. Pressthe PHOTObutton halfway down to adjust the focus.
• When the focus is set, a beep sound will be heard.
• You can maintainfocus by continuingto pressthe PHOTObutton halfway down inorder
to change your framing. This is usefulwhen your main subjectis not locatedin the center
area of your frame.
3. Pressthe PHOTObutton firmly to take the image.

• Ifthe focusis not properly set, releasethe PHOTObutton and then pressthe PHOTObutton
halfway down again.
• The flashing red icon(O) will appearwhen the focus cannot be set. If this occurs,
release the PHOTObuttonand try again.
• UseMacro mode for recordingimages at closerrange, or properfocusing will not occur
(see page 112).
Vibration Warning
+ VibrationWarning (_') icon and Low Lightindicator will appearwhen you set the flash
mode to Slow Sync (z_s)or Flash Cancel ((_)) indark lighting conditions, andthe PHOTO
button is pressed halfway down.
+ Use a tripodor allow the built-inflash to fire to obtain a clear imagewhen the Vibration
Warning (f_J_)iconappears.
